Local Business selected to install tile for Eagle Mountain Casino’s New Property

(Eagle Mountain Casino, Porterville, CA 93257) –

Local business Visalia Tile has a long-celebrated history here in the Central Valley, dating back to 45 years ago when Tony and Betty Martinho opened up their business in Visalia.

“45 years ago, my grandpa noticed in the Central Valley that there wasn’t anybody that was selling tile in our area, and you had to drive to Bakersfield or Fresno if you wanted to pick up a tile order to do work in the Central Valley. So, he created a tile store and basically brought in tile and distributed it to contractors around here,” said Bryce Martinho – Project Manager & Coordinator at Visalia Tile.

Bryce is the son of the current owner Robert Martinho, who was one of the original working staff members starting as an installer for his dad Tony and now is the COO of the company.

“My grandpa started with about 4 of our own tile installers, his sons when they first started installing, and fast forward to today, we are up to about 170 total employees now”, said Martinho.

Visalia Tile is always on the lookout for big projects in the area, and when they found out about Eagle Mountain Casino’s relocation, they were determined to be a part of it.

“As soon as we found out about the new Eagle Mountain Casino property and as soon as they assigned who would be doing the general contracting work, we got in touch with W.E. O’Neil early on in the process before anything started breaking ground, and we just told them, hey we want to do this and will do whatever we can to make it happen,” said Martinho.

Through many conversations, tile choices, and substitutions, Visalia Tile made the price work for everybody.

Visalia Tile will provide tile work throughout Eagle Mountain Casino’s new property, and they have tile work going up on walls in the Redwood Taphouse area along with the entire Casino and perimeter that will be getting tile floors totaling up to 17,000 square feet of tile floors.

“We have wall tiles in the restrooms and many different tile works. 40-50 different tiles going into the entire building in various areas, most of the work will be on the 17,000 square feet of floors,” said Martinho.

The entrance off the south side of the building will feature five big custom mural pieces going in on the floors, huge circular round medallions installed with tile delivered from Italy.

“Guests can fully expect a state-of-the-art new casino when they walk on the property, and it is pretty rare that you see the caliber of tiles that the Casino chose. It is going to look very clean and strong as there is tile pretty much everywhere”, said Martinho.

Visalia Tile is a five-star certified tile contractor and one of California’s largest non-union tile contractors.

“We were extremely excited and pleased to hear that Visalia Tile won the bid for the new casino’s tile work.   We were fortunate to be able to partner with a company of their stature and reputation for excellent craftsmanship.  Our valley has many talented companies, and we are proud to include Visalia Tile as part of our team”, said Matthew Mingrone, General Manager, Eagle Mountain Casino.

A perfect fit for Eagle Mountain Casino as the Casino prepares to open its doors to guests to what Martinho calls a “Big Time Wow Factor”.

Currently, Eagle Mountain Casino is located 17 miles east of Porterville and is a full-service casino owned and operated by the Tule River Tribe. Guests must be 18 years of age to enter. The Casino is open 24/7. In addition, the Grizzly Food court is open 24/7, and the River Steakhouse is open Friday – Sunday from 5pm – 10pm. Eagle Mountain Casino is a short drive from Bakersfield or Visalia.

The new casino property is scheduled to open soon, off Highway 65 in Porterville, CA, next to the Porterville Fair Grounds. The new property will double in size, growing to over 100,000 square feet, featuring new dining options, 1750 slot machines, 20 table games, and a 2000-seat state-of-the-art event center.
